Stockton Springs Community Library will host two free “Access Wellness” group training sessions in January, aimed at helping individuals find current, reliable, easy-to-understand information about health and wellness. Led by a trained facilitator, participants will explore sources of trustworthy health information on the Internet and in the library’s own expanding collection, as well as materials available through interlibrary loan.
These group sessions are scheduled from 1 – 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 27th and Tuesday, January 29 at the library, located at 6 Station Street in Stockton Springs. Pre-registration is required, by phone at 207-567-4147 or in person at the library.
In addition, the Access Wellness program, funded by a health literacy grant from Healthy Acadia and the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, will offer confidential, one-on-one help sessions, highlighted health displays and ongoing programming reflecting the needs and interests of the community.
Topics may include:
- healthy diet and exercise
- chronic conditions such as diabetes or heart disease
- substance misuse and addiction
- clinical trials and other research opportunities
- drug interactions
- healthy aging
- reproductive health
- disaster preparedness
- vaccine safety
- other suggested topics
