All are welcome to attend a presentation and short film screening by the Maine Farmland Trust at the Stockton Springs Community Library.
Attendees will learn more about the Maine Farmland Trust, the current land and farming trends being seen throughout the state, and why supporting local farmers and growers is so important. This session will also provide an excellent opportunity to share resources and network with local farmers and gardeners.
The presentation is scheduled from 6 – 7 p.m. on Monday, August 5th at the library, located at 6 Station Street in Stockton Springs and will be followed by a question and answer session and refreshments.
Call the library at 207-567-4147 for more information or visit the Trust’s website at https://www.mainefarmlandtrust.org/ or the library website at http://stocktonspringslibrary.org/.
A grant from the Davis Family Foundation has enabled the Stockton Springs Community Library (SSCL) to make improvements to “Mary’s Room,” the library’s Children’s Room. The room was named in honor of the late Mary Staples, one of the library’s main founders.
Upgrades include new standing bookcases made by Clyde L. Brooks, in addition to a new table and chairs. These improvements will enable the library to accommodate more children at programs and will allow for more work spaces for the children to engage in art and craft programs. The new bookcases will also allow younger children to shelve books, which was difficult to do with the former bin type bookcases.
SSCL is an all volunteer library located in the heart of downtown Stockton Springs. For more information about the library and its programs visit www.stocktonspringslibrary.org
